With 3 kids, our 2005 Honda Odyssey is our lifeline to the outside world. We finally reached 100,000 miles and like all other major milestone service intervals, we wanted to make sure we had the necessary work done. In previous years, we were taking our vehicle to the Honda dealer in Poway. However, after receiving a quote for an exorbitant amount of money, we decided to look elsewhere. The vehicle was no longer under warranty anyways, so was it really necessary to keep feeding the dealer? We started asking our friends and coworkers, who they took their vehicles to for maintenance work, major or otherwise. We received several recommendations from numerous places, but a name which came up more than once, was Transmasters in Encinitas. A transmissions place? In Encinitas, no less? Really? I called, and had a pleasant and cordial conversation with their service manager, Tom. I'm really big on customer service, and delivery over the phone is that much more difficult. I was impressed enough to bring my van in. The price was great (especially compared to the dealer), the warranty on the work done is equivalent to anything being promised by the dealer, I felt like an appreciated member of their business, and they did a great job! The responsibility of owning an aging vehicle is preventative maintenance to negate the big price tag items. We plan on running our van into the ground, with at least one (hopefully not too soon) transmission or engine overhaul. When that time comes, we will be taking our van to Transmasters in Encinitas. Until that time, our struts are perhaps long overdue. Another visit is surely in order!
